Pooch Power Plus - Just a sprinke a day, keeps the itch at bay.

I maintain that dogs should be like a fine tuned athlete. In order to do this, diet and fitness are equally important.

About four and a half years ago my bitch, Yo, became ill – at the time I was feeding her an expensive dry commercial food – recommended by vets. So I naturally thought I was giving my dog the best available – her continual scratching and itching was also part of her condition. Vets informed me she would die as her whole immune system had shut down.  So I took her home and threw out the dry dog food, started her on meat and bones and a supplement, which my sister had helped me create – she has a degree in natural medicine (NRG+). Within a week, Yo’s scratching and itching was gone, her coat was gleaming like a mirror and her gums and teeth were healthy.

A farmer phoned me asking me for my advice, he had two pups, which were lethargic and had dull coats. I supplied him with some NRG+, suggesting he try it and see if it makes a difference. The following week he phoned me to inform me that it had saved him $500 of vet fees and that the pups were looking great and were in the best condition of their lives. Hence, the word of mouth about NRG+ and the feedback has spread throughout New Zealand for the outstanding results.

With most dog food now processed or frozen, the essential vitamins and minerals within the food are being compromised. NRG+ is a totally natural product containing al the essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and trace elements, including Vitamin B, selenium, omega 3, 6 and 9.

I am extremely anti-dry dog food. They  are made from grains and if your dog were fed wheat whole, it would pass through its system whole and therefore giving no benefit. Plus dogs do not need carbohydrates to survive. What these companies do is mill the grain down into pellets or biscuits and coat them in fat to make them palatable for the dogs. The effect basically is we are causing our dog’s ill health from periodontal disease, diarrhoea or the adverse effect of constipation, skin conditions, scratching, allergies, and so on. The companies are generating huge profits.

I cannot stress enough that raw bones and meat promote good oral diet, but do not provide a complete balanced nutrition by themselves – this is why a supplement is necessary. Raw bones and meat is natural for a carnivore and we should keep to nature’s way.

As for dog rolls and tinned food they have a lot of preservatives in them which are not good for ones dog over a period of time.

An excellent book I would recommend you all to read is about dog nutrition by Australian Veterinarian, Tom Lonsdale.
